New rules are coming in soon for policy holders at RobinWeiss Insurance LLP. Since Covid-19 an incredible amount of claims have been steadily increasing. “We have seen a 9% year over year increase in minor head injuries which have turned into big claims being paid.” We asked Jerry who is a Director at RobinWeiss is it an increase in traffic accidents? Jerry said the claims are minor incidents which are not traffic accidents.
“The claims are from people knocking their head on the door frame as they are entering or exiting the vehicle. Some people have been knocked out cold and when they fall to the ground they sustain even greater injuries.” Jerry Said. One claim that set out the coming change in everyones policy is a policy holder hit their head while getting in their vehicle that in turn caused the person to lose balance and fell to the ground in such a way that the person broke their arm and spine and is now a paraplegic. “The cars are so difficult to enter and exit from.” Jerry told us. “People are just in a rush and are careless when entering and exiting their vehicle.” We asked Jerry what financial impact will it have with rate as they are already high for many drivers. “We have a scale of the best to the worst vehicles to enter and exit from and that will be used to gauge the rate increase in insurance costs. If you do not wear a helmet when driving or as a passenger rates can go up by as much as 15%. If you and your passengers wear a helmet, there will not be any rate increases”

Jerry said his insurance company is the first one to implement this policy change. “The other insures are working on updating their policies this very minute.” Jerry said. “A person said is the most fragile and valuable part of their body”
We spoke with Rachael who just parked her car at a grocery store across the street from RobinWeiss Insurance asking her thought on incoming change in auto policies and she thought it is a great idea and will feel so much safer knowing that the heads of his kids will be safe at all times. “If you have to wear a helmet riding a bike, it just makes sense you should wear one riding in a car.”
